Even the term 'fashion blogger' itself is somehow tainted, also bringing to mind the words 'low quality' and 'poorly researched.'” Today I came across few wonderful articles which shows that some bloggers may be taking this to heart : The First one is The New York Observer and the second one on The Business of Fashion - It seems that fashion bloggers are not taken seriously by the fashion world, and they are fighting to get their own spot at fashion shows to be able to plug their laptop and live blogging about the shows. They starting to create some comunnity by fashion blogger for fashion blogger. I can bet that in the near future, Fashion blogs ( the big ones ) will be as important as print publications ! "The Style Coalition will serve as an umbrella for a collection of blogs, like a more intimate version of Glam Media, a content network of more than 900 Web sites geared toward women and fashion," reports the New York Observer. - Check also InsideTheTents.com who is working on a interesting project of covering live the Mercedes Fashion in Bryant Park, NY. Few can recall a time when even the top names in fashion had to undergo a screen test at the gates of the white house. So who is this gatekeeper that is helping make or break new and old designers alike…Apparently high-end Chicago retailer Ikram Goldman, owner of Ikram boutique, is the woman standing between the first lady and the fashion world. Ms. Goldman was the main person with whom designers commissioned to submit sketches for Michelle Obama's inaugural weekend wardrobe had any contact with. While some see this as a negative departure from previous first ladies who have gone directly to the designers of their interest, having a fashion savvy stylist guarding Ms. Obama's wardrobe could open the door for up and rising stars like Jason Wu whose business has increased three-fold since Michelle Obama wore his dress on inaugural night. - reference NY Times Related posts:

I had trouble to give a title to this article. I mean it could have been multiple suiting things like, “Claudia Schiffer for YSL”, or “My Heart Stops, When Stefano Pilati Starts” or “The Hollywood Sign Abstracted”, but I couldn’t make anything more important that this shoe. No matter what else is released this year nothing will come close to this graphic sculptural peep toe boot, made of leather and wire. It is just pure untouchable genius! It is no wonder they have the whole SS09 YSL campaign was based on it, and the photos of Schiffer shot by Inez & Vinoodh are nothing short of amazing. They captured that Hollywood Glamour with the abstracted letters of the Hollywood sign just behind Schiffer.

Yesterday I read an article from one of my favorite fashion journalists, Hadley Freeman, for the UK Guardian that made my day, week and even year. Now obviously we have been hearing this news since September of 2008, but it was Hadley’s article supported by interviews with Phoebe Philo, Olivia Morris (Philo’s good friend), and Marco Gobetti (president of Celine) that really made the full impact of Philo’s return to the industry. A intriguing woman to say the least…THE women’s designer of our generation, a mother to two youngens, a wife, and one of the best thing to happen to fashion in 2009…Phoebe Philo makes her comeback by joining Celine. I really could not imagine a more perfect liaison than this. I mean, a 3-year break after delivering the best in womenswear for 3 years at Chloe, should flourish seamlessly into the next step for Philo’s customer, who are starting to mature to a more sophisticated wardrobe. The next step for her Chloe customer is on its way and I can say in full confidence it will be delivered with a splash!
“Philo has always had a very simple approach to designing: she makes the clothes that she would like to wear at that moment. It is just fortunate that what she wants to wear millions of others do too, and that she herself is such an aspirational model, going from London party girl in her 20s to relaxed and happy mother in her 30s. Referring to her time at Central Saint Martins in the 90s, when intellectual designers such as Hussein Chalayan and Alexander McQueen were de rigueur, Philo once said, ["I just wanted to make a pair of trousers that made my arse look good, rather than a pair that represented the Holocaust or something"].” If you fashion is your forte than you would be missing out not to read the oh so fulfilling article in The Gaurdian by Hadley Freeman. Currently there are a few drawings being leaked of what some of the outfits will look like (plus the one finished dress by Carmen Marc Valvo below)
"She's an American icon, and there has to be an interesting association between play and Barbie, and creativity and fashion," said Valvo. The pink shoes featured are the exclusive Barbie hot pink Christian Louboutins.
