Nude Models on Strike in Italy

Not as I do

Steven LaRose is on the video tip man.

It's really convenient that he chose Francis Bacon as his first subject for video montage because in an ongoing debate with my mother that has lasted for about 10 years over the virtues or lack thereof of "darkness" in art- in which she has finally offered some ground from her position, which has heretofore been stated more or less as "your art is scary, Jacques...people don't wan't to be scared..they already are", because of a recent trip to the theatre in which she watched the Daniel Day-Lewis vehicle "There Will Be Blood", and was commenting to me how moving it was and also had to admit that, yes, it was quite dark and scary, and after this admission I additionally pointed out that darkness has a long history in painting, take for example Francis Bacon, who she said she was unfamiliar with, so if nothing else Mom if you're reading this, this is that guy, and probably the music makes it a little more creepy than it actually is, but you get my point about art that can be great while still being scary.

cats

What you're looking at now are my favorite shipmates bathed in the red and green of Pro-Studio light. In the sliding scale of animal husbandry, cat's have only very recently been domesticated-as the transition from a hunter-gatherer civilization into an agricultural grain rich society has only occurred within the last 10,000 years. During the harvest season cats became a integral part of food source storage, feeding off of the vermin that also were disease vectors. Maybe this is why the Egyptians made them gods. Raging Extroverts usually don't understand the subtle dance that is required to seduce the feline into one's magic circle.

BTW The reason I have 3 is a long story...it was not by design...let's just say I'm the Kevin Federline of cat custody.

help me out....

I'm considering getting LASIK surgery. Please feel free to weigh in on how good this idea may or may not be in your opinion...

It seemed like a good idea to allow the obvious truth of the passage below to resonate in my blog space.
Dr Sanity via Dennis Hollingsworth:

...it occurs to me that if socialism cannot die because its mythology is seared into the psyche of the individual; captialism, the bane of socialism (just as socialism is the bane of capitalism), also cannot perish for precisely the same reason--each one is the political expressions of one of the two fundamental developmental lines of the human psyche.

...When not pursuing the objects of their narcissistic rage; the same rage-filled and aggressive individuals and groups easily submit to the will of Allah, God, the religion, the government, the collective, or the despot of the day, as they are filled with the desire for a reunification of the perfect other.

It has been said that the 20th century was the “century of the narcissist”, but the 21st is well on its way to outdoing the horrors of the past, as a seemingly never-ending epidemic of malignant narcissistic rage and idealism--both caused by a defect in narcissism and both in turn combining to crush the human spirit--all for the purpose of serving the self-aggrandizing vision of the few.

It was a big mistake to think that when the West was victorious in the cold war; and when all the defects and deadly outcomes of socialism and communism were exposed, that it was the end of the matter. Like a zombie brought to pseudo-life by some mysterious cosmic process, eating the flesh of the living, socialism never was completely dead. In the same way, no matter how many tomes are written to discredit religion or a belief in God, it will not make the fundamental psychological need of homo sapiens to yearn for the perfect "other."

But without the mitigating influence of the grandiose self, these utopian fantasies have a way of devolving into scenes from "The Night of the Living Dead."

The task of the Free World in the 21st century is not only to "resolve the ideological debates of the Cold War", it is undo the narcissistic psychopathology that continues to strangled human potential and freedom all over the planet.

..never knew I had such a "following" in what looks like Kansas. Or London for that matter. I'm assuming this statistical map is largely a products of blind blogger stumbling. Nevertheless, I will not rest until I have broken ground in Siberia and Africa...Nigerian scam artists come and git it. A little more Polynesian action would be nice too...

The Root of All Evil - 1 of 9

God Bless Richard Dawkins

...he's cool except he's a Reductivistic Scientist with no imagination. But he's right about alot even if he is unduly fixated on purging teleology from the human canon of thought. This might actually mean he's a nihilist. But kind of like in a Buddhist way...so a kinder gentler Nihilist...with good manners and no body odor. Watch the whole thing at Thalperi...

Cymatics-part1: Bringing matter to life with sound - 1 of 3

All matter is wave vibration...Bone-Headed Positivistic Materialism must be revealed for the cult-like limiting metaphor that it is. Open your third eye and see the noise. FYI, Tom Cruise is a Cartesian Dualist, that should be proof enough. Praise Xenu!

Even though I posted it on my website, I'm still working on "Athame and Pentacle"...obsessive perfectionist that I am. I spent ALL DAY blending that cheek using DR. jACQUES' mAGICK adMixture of stand oil and linseed.

One of my friends recently commented that my camera was "dinky" so I bought a new one...a mid-range canon (still not to replace my high end Konica)...I think it works pretty good...but now that I've seen the digital Leica I'm pining again. Obsolescence Pre-Designed.

Oscar Rodriguez

Like the last three posts have all been props for former students of mine who are kicking ass..and the trend continues with Oscar. A student of mine last semester, Oscar took very quickly to glazing techniques, and was dropping some pretty heavy bombs in what was a class full of some pretty serious talent. This piece is among my favorites, but I expect much more in years to come from this artist who could hardly be considered a "student" anymore, and is in the beginning stages of developing a professional identity that I'm sure will be vivid, forceful, and full of dark beauty and idiosnycratic vision. Please check out his deviantART site until he gets his act together and claims his own URL. Rock on Oscar.

April Skies

Hand in hand in a violent life
Making love on the edge of a knife
And the world comes tumbling down

I'm in a JMC kinda' mood. Sometimes it just seems really clear how we willfully engage and seek out an ecstatic sort of suffering. When we are most alive we are closest to death. Nowhere is this more evident than in Love, which can be said to be the most primordial and definitive of all "conditions". The reconciliation and alienation with the Other is a continuously oscillating ingression into the insanity of our human telos...our intuitive grasp for purpose. The life force is beyond our ability to fully master, like a God that if seen in all it's naked glory would immolate the observer. Nevertheless, mortality is a type of immanence, especially if this suffering can be made redemptive, fully claimed and owned by the individuated self. This is the only real purpose of art.

...Michelle took some shots of me but I looked very frightening in that light for some reason. Frightening, but not in a good Daniel Day Lewis way...

I just uploaded this choice excerpt from the noire classic "Conquest of the Planet of the Apes" which is my favorite of the franchise. Some deep stuff here people. Deep.

Lady Jinx

...during a break in the rain I took a stroll around the block and came across this vacant house that has apparently been vandalized by an all girl outlaw tag crew called "Lady Jinks" or "Lady Jinx". Looks like they hit the place just 2 nights ago.

Infinite Regression

I uploaded this snippet from "Escape From the Planet of the Apes"....it reads as a pretty accurate description of a large portion of contemporary art.

"..heaven isn't too far..."

I took this footage sunday from the empty lot on Figueroa Terrace that overlooks Downtown, Echo Park, Lincoln Heights, and Dodgers stadium. The Dead Meadow song seemed to work with it pretty well. Very hypnotic.
