The 208 OSEOsidades” by Saúl Hernández

Posted: 03 Feb 2009 11:05 AM PST

208-oseosidades-1

Extraordinary sculptures by Saúl Hernández from Guadalajara, Mexico. The "208 OSEOsidades" is a collection of 21 bronze sculptures of 21 centimeters in height. He uses the most common representation of death which is the human skeleton in a 1:8 scale replica of a real skeleton.

His sculptures represent the character in different every day attitudes, playing golf or soccer, thinking, playing guitar or making love. There is a character familiar to us in these astonishing sculptures. The absence of skin makes it relate to anyone, ignores whether if the person is fat or thin, white or black.

These sculptures are mounted on a base of marble, onyx and stainless steel. All the pieces are made in bronze with a wax of silver, a treatment of jewelry. The sculptures were personally executed by the sculptor in his studio Saúl Hernández H & M Foundry, located in the city of Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico.

Say What! Lupe Fiasco goes British on us?! This track is so rad, and apparently its Lupe Fiasco’s little side project entitled Japanese Cartoon, which he described as Post Punk/Alternative/Indie. if thats really Lupe with faking a British accent, then even more props to him.

Brad Downey

brad-downey

Kentucky born artist Brad Downey stakes a claim for the individual’s interpretation of the signals and systems that govern the urban environment and imperceptibly determine our movements around the city. Because we’re so accustomed to these signs and beacons, their subtle manipulation or replication can often be overlooked. Downey uses humor to underscore the institutional regulation of public behavior and to provoke awareness of how this control affects the evaluation of art, self, and social status.. Make me think in a similar way as Spanish Artist Spy -
