Movie Illustrations by Justin Reed Posted: 10 Mar 2009 10:20 AM PDT American Psycho Vermont based Illustrator Justin Reed seems to have quite a collection of killer illustrations of the most classic films in history under his sleeve, but it seems as though has has not really been sharing them with the public. Its seems there will be upcoming opportunity to get your hands on a few original illustrations which were commissioned for a group show at the APW Gallery in New York. He has done 5 works based on 5 films for the show. The five films are Taxi Driver, The Godfather, The Day the Earth Stood Still, Casablanca and Monty Python and the Holy Grail. They were done with acrylic on 100% Cotton paper, measuring 5.5 x 9 inches. They will each be priced at $150.00. The Dark Night Pulp Fiction Fight Club

Posted: 10 Mar 2009 09:44 AM PDT Seattle based artist Micheal Leavitt is making a statement with cardboard. He is using a material as frivolous as cardboard to create life size sculptures of objects that relate directly to sub-cultures of people. I was calling it Pop Art but I think Safe Art may be a better category for it. One could argue the use of the word Art in this equation at all. I mean we all know how large and fanatic the sneaker heads are so by creating cardboard sculptures of some of the most popular models in footwear he is essentially riding the commercial train and exercising his meticulous craft of making these wearable cardboard replicas. Personally I think they are rad and I think he is smart to tap into the fanaticism because the demographic that would buy these may not usually buy a piece of art but they would buy this and call it Art. He will be showing these works along with others in a exhibit titled “Don’t Stop Object Shopping”, at the Fuse Gallery in NY starting March 21 through April 18, 2009Opening Reception: Saturday, March 21st, 7 to 10 pm. Posted: 10 Mar 2009 09:43 AM PDT Yeah Yeah Yeah’s : Hysteric The Yeah Yeah Yeah’s are about to release a new album. We have here for you a sneak peak slice of their awesomeness. It seems Karen O and her bandmates have become progressively less weird and more palatable over the course of their 2 most recent albums. Personally I liked them better at their sassiest and most abstract. I dont know, maybe Karen started meditating and no longer feels the need to scream in her songs for release. She did after all name this album “Its Blitz!” which suggests she has found some form of nirvana. Whatever the case, I still have much love for them, always. Below, one of my favorite test tracks, “Hysteric”, off their newest album. Listen to “Hysteric” Here Related posts:

Posted: 10 Mar 2009 09:37 AM PDT After Gary Salter Photography here is an other great photographer, Holger Pooten from Horton-Stephens a London photography Agency. Holger is not really what we can call a Fashion photographer, but his flicks are really interesting, the impossibility in his work is captivating and executed in a way that makes you wonder how it was done ( of course some photoshop involved ). Besides his personal work he's also shot for big clients like Adidas, Nike, Neo2, and Vogue. Be sure to see more of his work here Related posts:
