Posted: 09 Mar 2009 11:27 AM PDT Vanessa Beecroft is known for her performance art based on social and cultural commentary. Her images are extremely striking and her concepts deeply evolved. “There is a passive aggressive beauty to this art,” said Roberta Smith for the New York Times, and I couldn’t agree more with that comment on a general social perception of her art, but to me it mixes so many of the elements that I lust for in life, art, and expression things such as color, warm minimalism, the unrefined yet completely fabricated all in one teaspoon, attention to human body and abstraction of our everyday perception. I love her work and am extremely excited to visit her new exhibition with Deitch which just opened on Friday. Related posts:

Posted: 09 Mar 2009 10:42 AM PDT So we’ve all seen the video of hello kitty teaming up with Mac cosmetics but have we all seen the Hello Kitty hospital in Taiwan?? The hospital has branded its maternity ward in head to toe pink, from uniform to incubators, in hope that patients will recover sooner. It’s officially licensed by Hello Kitty’s owners. The hospital Director Tsai Tsung-chi said he hopes the cutesy kitty that is one of the world’s most recognisable characters will ease the pain and fear associated with childbirth and being admitted into hospital. Pain is pain to me but can’t be bad to look at right?

The Showtime House: For TV Fanatics Posted: 09 Mar 2009 09:50 AM PDT Showtime Networks and Metropolitan Home have joined forces to present The Showtime House. They redesigned this $20 million Gramercy Park brownstone into “a beacon of modernism inspired by six Showtime original series,” set to unveil in September. The Showtime House is a perfect example of the kind of collaborations that we will probably start to see in this economy. Collaborations have been growing more and more popular but they have been few and rare on this scale, and what a brilliant marketing stunt! The interior desiners will be drawing inspiration from Dexter™, Californication, The Tudors, Weeds, The L-Word® and United States of Tara to create these spaces. Below is my favorite. Dexter - Dining Room by Amy Lau, Kitchen by Johnny Grey Studios
If you are “dying” to have some of teh pieces featired above you can visit Spring 3D’s online shop and see the Dexter Collection. To see the others visit The Showtime House Related posts:

Posted: 09 Mar 2009 09:32 AM PDT This is what I can call a typical French Style Illustrations - French duo ” Mesdemoiselles ” (Aurelie Castex & Claire Laude) are frequently approached by Creative Agencies for the Luxury Market, because of their distinct style and meticulous graphic executions. They also created beautiful websites like luxury new Parisian Club ‘ Chacha Club‘ (also Telechacha) and the Fancy Hotel du Nord… I really love their unique Illustration style and their pastel color choices, be sure to check browse Mesdemoiselles website for some Frenchy inspirations… Related posts:

Posted: 09 Mar 2009 09:19 AM PDT Woodpigeon : Piano Pieces for Adult Beginners Canadian group/ensemble Woodpigeon has just release their double album, “The Treasury Canada/ C/W Houndstooth Europa”, and just returned from their Eurotour. It must be hard in this group of seven to come up with song names since all of them are practically sentences. I guess everyone has to get a word in. Anyway you definitely have to check out this album, its pretty melo but has these great moments of epiphany, transporting you directly to cloud nine. Posted: 09 Mar 2009 06:46 AM PDT This is the work of Swedish photographer Carl Kleiner. His photography portrays abstraction, glamour, portrait and fashion in imagery. His work is very inventive, the soft tones and colourings are awesome. These are images from his collection “Imaginary Drizzle”
These are images from his collection “6:1″ which is a nice take on Alice in Wonderland… Related posts:
