I am focusing on timeless classics." – Mark Fast Canadian designer, Mark Fast acquired his BA and MA last year, from where else but Central Saint Martins. He was righteously awarded the London Fashion Week New Gen Award for Autumn/winter 2009 for expertise in knitwear. Mark knits everything by hand on a domestic knitting machine. His work is formed onto the body as he knits, and he has devised innovative stitching techniques, blending lycra with viscose, angora or wool. He is inspired by the endless possibilities of lycra yarns, sculpting areas of tension and areas of volume over the body. Mark also finds fresh inspiration in the past, translating historical costume and style into a contemporary aesthetic. Although I can say that these pieces are quite timeless in the fact that a women who would wear them would not consider the season or trend, they are also perfectly timed for Spring of 09 as the trend of torn and cut-out tights is continuously growing. The 1969 Mercedes C111 Posted: 09 Jan 2009 10:02 AM PST After the beautiful 60’s cars review we made couple month ago, here is one we didn’t see - The 1969 Mercedes C111 - A pure beauty! The C111 was a project research by Mercedes to develop New Technologies. The C 111-II was introduced to the public at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1970, It was fitted with a four-rotor Wankel engine with an output of 350 hp and improved engine torque. It gave the car a top speed of 180mph and 0-60mph in 4.8 seconds. The C 111-II (see last picture) revised suspension configurations, allowing for wide tyres and the body work was made from plastic to reduce weight and improve aerodynamic efficiency. Unfortunately because of the 1973 oil crisis and the gas emission legislation any hope the car would be put into production was stopped. Sad because I would Love to add it to my collection ! The Grassy Phone Posted: 09 Jan 2009 09:29 AM PST Designer  Je-Hyun Kim created The Natural Year Phone, the phone is made of hay, sans screen and soft keys. The hard components get recycled - Pretty cool, considering that today’s rapid consumerist society always wants something new and like Yanko Design said, ” How do we want our devices to be when the become obsolete in 5 years? ” ( for me I would say they become obsolete in 1 year ) but with this grassy phone made of  natural sources, it wont be a problem anymore - I would love to have one, but with emails, wifi and internet into it….
