Kirchner’s Nature Mort - “Out of the Ordinary” Posted: 06 Jan 2009 10:13 AM PST Artist John Kirchner uses his art as a means to bring attention to the material things our society holds reverence to. He takes Classic ideas and bastardizes them by implementing imagery of modern lifestyle such as the bookcase filled with wonder bread and selected Classic works of literature. I guess you could call it a contemporary  commentary on society through art, a concept that was introduced by masters like Duchamp and Magritte and later commercialized by Warhol. Of course there  will always be arguments if such work can be called art but as long as there are arguments about it, there will be a place for this kind of work. Erwin Olaf for Elle Magazine Posted: 06 Jan 2009 10:02 AM PST Here is the Latest editorial of one of our Favorite photographer Erwin Olaf for ELLE Magazine shot at the luxurious Amstel Hotel in Amsterdam. This is where Erwin took photos of an extravagant party with glamorous people in just-as-glamorous costumes. The story is entitled “Lof der Zotheid”, or in English "The Praise of Folly" after the most well-known work by Dutch author Erasmus. This editorial is just a pure beauty - The high-end luxury stylism and the beautiful clowny/victorian style make-up & hair macth really well with the decor and Erwin style ! Love it !
