I love the Behive concept designed by Dutch designer and “Big Boss” of Extremist, Dirk Wynants. The entire Extremist website is a great resource for party/event planners. The Behive concept is based on a tightly stretched fabric suspended about 60 cm above the ground. You can either lie, sit or lean against the very comfortable side cushions. The springs all around the fabric ensure that it automatically adapts to the shape of your body, thus offering maximum seating or lounging comfort. |

The 2+ Weekend House is a container house with a difference - it’s made with containers manufactured expressly for housing (vs. cargo containers). Designed by Jure Kotnik Arhitekt. I Love it ! Sky high prices of real estate in the contemporary world have stimulated the search for and development of alternative housing solutions. One such attempt is the ConHouse system of small-size housing container units, which takes the housing/office ISO container to the next evolutionary level. As opposed to the other container projects, which mostly feed on the excess of available cargo containers, ConHouse pushes the development of containers manufactured especially for housing and office purposes

The upper container provides a projecting roof above the entrance as well as serves to shelter the back terrace. The ceiling of the bottom container is also a terrace of the first floor. “The system’s modular nature enables containers to be added to or subtracted from the compound as needed, so that the ConHouse can grow or contract depending on the actual spatial needs of the people using it. Lower prices of such live/work units make them competitive as compared to traditional housing and are intended to increase the number of home-owners, who can then use the extra cash to expand their living space or invest more into interior design.”

Somehow in the midst of my reviews of the 2008 graduating show of Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Antwerp I missed what could be possibly the most important menswear designer of the class. Antonin Tron’s Collection entitled “La Jetee” after one of his great inspirations a movie by Chris Marker left me close to speechless. The lavishly designed collection may not conform to the our stark ideas of mens eveningwear but its wearibility is unquestionable for the ostentatious man of modern society. A man unafraid, if not welcoming to others judement and perceptions of himself. The loosely tailored but extremely well cut garments are made to be worn with poise and confidence and will not go innoticed despit their dark monotone palette.
