Ripped Stocking Trend

Posted: 06 Dec 2008 12:57 PM CST

We’ve been seeing this Trend coming for a while and it seems to be more and more present now… The Laddered Stocking or Ripped tights - Alexander Wang was showing his version of neo-grunge style on his Fall08 runway - Mary Kate as an early adapter already sports them for a while and you can see it in the street/club pretty often now..Seems to be more a fashion statement now than an trend…but still hot for this fall winter.

Fumie Sasabuchi - Beauty Concept & Fashion Death

Posted: 06 Dec 2008 12:32 PM CST

Japanese Artist Fumie Sasabuchi reworks the pages of fashion magazines and deconstructs the perception of a perfect physique and plays a lot with the subject of death. She uses this tool to freely explore an underlying surface, therefore creating hybrid body images in which promotional aesthetic is fused with material naturalistic anatomical study. Fumie Sasabuchi comments on how our skin naturally protects our body.

The manipulation of the modern visual world represents, in the 21st Century, an accepted magnitude. However, there are still very clear boundaries with regards to what is allowed to be shown. The subject of death remains as one of many taboos in Western culture. Fumie Sasabuchi unlocks the repressed visual world and reveals a new concept of beauty. Via ZinkBlog See more on Artnet

Laura Laine - The Fashion Illustrator

Posted: 06 Dec 2008 11:44 AM CST

So now, you start to be used to our daily post on Fashion Illustrations.Today’s it’s Finnish Fashion Illustrator Laura Laine, with her girly drawings and very own style… Laura’s  work is AMAZING ! Love it - At 24 she has quite a respectable resume, as she has been making the pages of Elle Girl, NY Times T Magazine, Páp Magazine and she just finished a Ad illustrations for Tommy Hilfiger in the British GQ (just to mention a couple) I assume it won’t take long until we’ll see her work in the international fashion bibles…

See the little interview on Charlies Design Diary:

“How would you describe your style?
My drawing style is something I’m not so conscious about, I just do what I feel like at the moment. Lately it’s been twisted-bodied girls with a melancholy attitude.”
