Agatha Nitecka’s Photography

Posted: 09 Dec 2008 10:12 AM PST

Photographer Agatha Nitecka has a very minimal yet extremely sensual style that is depicted throughout her photography. She has a few stop motion videos which are based on very interesting messages particularly the one below. I am also drawn to the moodiness of her photographic series.

The Vending Machine of Dreams

Posted: 09 Dec 2008 09:41 AM PST

Most vending machines reluctantly dispense Dr. Peppers and Doritos. The apparatus at the Mondrian South Beach, however, would never condescend to offer you a soda. Instead, a space age wall that looks more like a Shu Uemura store front greets unsuspecting guests in the cavernous lobby. Unless you have a black card, stay away as change just won’t cut it. Options, which you select from a computer screen and pay for by credit, include Bentleys, Thakoon dresses, and a $250 keychain. My favorite - a corner unit in the Mondrian residences for a cool $1,261,500. Business has been good apparently. Concierge Andres Gomez told me they sold out of the ‘F*ck the Recession’ tee in 2 days. For some reason, I’d hate to be a drunk boarder wandering back to my room jonesing for a Sprite. I might just end up with my own building.

The Fresh Face : Kristian Aadvenik SS09 Collection

Posted: 09 Dec 2008 09:19 AM PST

Born in Norway and educated at the Royal College of Art in London, the 29 years old Kristian Aadnevik combines the technical knowledge of a skilled couturier with the charm of a screenwriter. Undecided between fairytale and horror, he explains: "For me every collection is like a film starring the heroines I dress; plots and stories change, but my muse remains the same, she is the protagonists who evolves and explores life."

After working for Harrods International and Charles Jourdan in Japan, in 2004 Kristian decided to start his own label – sexy, gloomy, opulent and smoothly glamorous- earning at once the title of London's "next big thing". "What I find truly fascinating in fashion - he continues - is that one becomes part of a social evolution. Dressing people, or simply influencing their sense of style, you have the possibility of creating a new world, your own." Kristian Aadnevik ´s world is made of contrasts: the gothic and the romantic entangled in a sort of disco nightmare, a deliberately decadent atmosphere, sinfully innocent and encrusted with luscious details.

"I try to create something truly original inspired by history and experience - the young designer explains - my philosophy also reflects the importance of luxury and sex appeal."

Kristian's future looks bright -
but appropriately dark.

Kristian Aadnevik, the latest protégé of Donatella Versace, has just been acclaimed “one of the season’s most promising new talents” by style.com. He has been hailed by Sunday Times Style's Colin McDowell, Daily Telegraph's Hilary Alexander, ES Fashion and Elle magazine as one of UK's hottest and exciting young talents.

Neon Neon : Raquel

Neon Neon is a new group from Gruff Rhys of Super Furry Animals and Boom Bip. Their debut album Stainless Style (OUT NOW WORLDWIDE) is themed around the life of John Delorean and features Spank Rock, Yo Majesty and Fat Lip, but my favorite track is definitely “Raquel“.
