airplanehotel

If you have fantasies of living like the Swiss Family Robinson or even the characters in Lost, this rainforest resort near Quepos, Costa Rica may be just the ticket. Situated on the edge of the Manuel Antonio National Park, the Costa Verde Resort features an incredible hotel suite set inside a 1965 Boeing 727 airplane. In its former life the airplane transported globetrotters on South Africa Air and Avianca Airlines, and it now serves as a two bedroom suite perched on the edge of the rain forest overlooking the beach and ocean…see full article at Inhabitat

The Colors of India

the-colors-of-the-world-2

If you have never been to India, photographer Poras Chaudhary can show you the way to its heart. I have just discovered his photos and am blown away by the beauty and color that fill each frame. Many of the photos shown here are a documentation of Holi, also called the Festival of Colors, a popular Hindu spring festival observed in India, Nepal,Bangladesh. During this holiday everyone is suppose to wear white and throw themselves in colored powder which dies their clothes, skin and anything it touches. Note to self : best vacation to take your kids on!

Despite the lack of opportunities and the restrictions of a small village Poras Chaudhary, found a way to touch the world, when he started taking photographs in 2005. Documenting his life in Kurukshetra, the northern part of India, he brought us images of a culture full of color and tradition. Visit his flickr for mind blowing moments.

Arthur Russel : A Little Lost

arthur-russel

Charles Arthur Russell Jr. (1952 – April 4, 1992) was an American cellist, composer, singer, and disco artist. While he found the most success as a dance music artist, Russell’s career bridged New York’s downtown, rock, and dance music scenes; his collaborators ranged from Philip Glass to David Byrne to Nicky Siano. Relatively unknown during his life, a series of reissues and posthumous releases has raised his profile in recent years. He died in ‘92 of Aids but his sound continues to resonate in a big way. He has a great range of music due to his endless studies of instruments and cultural sounds.

The design and production of DesignBox includes a number of innovations that also reinforce Veuve Clicquot’s commitment to sustainability:
- The box is mono-material - made of just paper - which avoids difficulties associated with recycling and certain fabrication processes that are often polluting
- No plastic lamination (protective plastic film) is used in the box - with inks, glues and solvents representing less than 5% of the total weight of the product
- The paper used comes from forests under management of the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council), a non-profit organization established to promote the responsible management of our forests.
- Micro-grooving reduces the usage of paper in packaging
- The DesignBox will be launched commercially in June 2009
