Hotel Particulier : Le Charme Parisienne

Everyone who travels or has traveled to Paris probably loves many little different aspects and experiences about it, however I think Paris will always boil down to its charm. The cobble stone streets, the ancient architecture, the museums full of the most iconic pieces of art, Les Petite Cafes or Les Bar Tabac, the never-changing impressive fashion ;), the shops, and the charming boutique style hotels where we rest our heads at night. A quintessential example of its charm is a place like Hotel Particulier, a restored aristocratic mansion, coining in on the french name for what can be described as an urban “private house”. The Boutique Hotel is located in Monmartre, one of my favorite parts of Paris, amidst a brilliant view of the Sacre Coeur. The hotel has been open since July of 2007 but has had a recent addition to its experience. Nestled in this narrow, small, discreet and chic building is a brand new boutique to discover, offering the most private/luxury shopping experience.

Celebrating 10 Years of WAD : The Marathon

Posted: 01 Apr 2009 08:57 AM PDT

wad-10-year-anniversary-cover

In honor of the 10th anniversary of one of our all time favorite mags, Trendland has decided to do a 10-day-WAD-Marathon. WAD is an acronym for WE’AR DIFFERENT. The name which reads two ways is a fair self-proclaimed boast whether you catch the We-are-different or wear-different assertion first. The last and current issue of WAD (March, April, May 2009) is bursting with original Mag of Fame content and if I could I would scan every page for my digital archive. But given that we too are celebrating their ten years we should be digging past the spiderwebs to bring back the creative ingenuity that the mag was founded on. So stay tuned this week for all the upcoming WADNESS!

To open the Marathon I would like to feature the birthday cake editorial from the current issue entitled “A Piece of Cake”, which makes my eyes and mouth water in way that far too few editorials can now a days. All the cakes were made by The Cake Store in London.

Ray LaMontagne : You Are the Best Thing

ray-lamontagne

Ray LaMontagne is hands down one of the best new artist I have heard in awhile. His voice just kills me, but softly. His Lyrics make we want to scream them out loud and I haven’t been as happy to hear a song played repeatedly on the radio since Coldplay’s “Lost” and “Viva la Vida” and before that way too long. He is getting the most highly acclaimed praise from his peers and the public. Tomorrow marks the first day of his Spring tour which is unfortunately mostly an east coast tour. I can not wait to see him live. The 3rd and latest of Ray LaMontagne’s album’s is entitled, “The Gossip in the Grain” and is described as “touching upon a range of styles and musical settings- spanning pastoral folk, railroad blues, front porch country, and plangent balladry”, and I love all of those genre descriptors. Check out his whole album immediately!!

Hardee employs Padma Lakshmi

Posted: 31 Mar 2009 03:03 PM PDT

Hardee, the Carl’s Junior of the Midwest and Southeast regions of the United States employed Padma Lakshmi to use her tongue more for licking than for speech in this commercial ad. If she doesn’t give you a heart attack, this burger probably will. You really think Padma Lakshmi will pull into a drive through and order this? She definitely got paid royally for endorsing Hardee’s flavors…as paid as Common when he endorsed Microsoft’s Softwear.

Super & Barneys NY pt. II

Posted: 31 Mar 2009 02:53 PM PDT

The quality frame manufacture Super and Barneys Co-Op New York features part two in their collab. The frames are designed with intertwining metallic streaks combined with a Zeiss Gold 24k lens and of course is based on the Super Ciccio Style. The product is limited to 50 pieces and is available only at Barneys CO-OP in New York. I’m really feeling the aesthetic marriage between the original tortoise shell look and wood-grain. Peep part one of the co-op here.

D.R.I. : Inspiration

drismokerings-500x5003

D.R.I is a soulful yet  light little sprite in the music world. Her songs play with various boundaries while maintaining a consistently unique sound that is all her own. The song ‘Inspiration’ below, off her album ‘Smoke Rings’, is one where, in my opinion, she was most successful in conjuring a retro and ethereal sound which turned out truly heavenly. Have a listen.
