Magnetic Sculptural Curtain

Posted: 19 Nov 2008 12:18 PM CST

Florian Kräutli's Magnetic Curtain. Swiss designer Kräutli, who is currently studying in the Netherlands, the design center of almost everything these days, wanted a curtain he could shape into any form.

The Magnetic Curtain can be pushed and pulled, scrunched and elongated, manipulated to your heart's desire into open and closed arrangements, as well as everything in between. Sunlight too intense in one particular area? Just use the magnets to cover that blinding ray and open the rest of the window to allow the more pleasurable light to shine in.

But what's more interesting, I would argue, about the Magnetic Curtain is its sculptural possibilities. In front of a window, as a room divider or wall installation, the Magnetic Curtain becomes a playground of innovation and form. It is has great decorative possibilities for spicing up an installation or short term exhibit. The maluable structure of the curtain makes it super easy to move, intsall and uninstall.

The Magnetic Curtain will be available through Droog Design

I found these images and just had to share. I love everything about them from the 80’s silhouettes to the grainy photo quality. Oh and I love that random blonde braid on the model with black hair.

Timo Neckwear Presenation with Interview Magazine

Posted: 19 Nov 2008 11:32 AM CST

Yesterday we introduced you to a few upcoming brands with a focus on neckwear. We mentioned that our favorite was Timo Neckwear and today I wanted to share with you a review from their presentation with Interview Magazine at the Milk Studios Gallery / Phillips de Pury & CO in NY. The designers had sourced some of the most beautiful and aged dress forms on which they displayed the neckwear with backgrounds of original Warhols, Basquits, and Rauschenberg. The contrast of the two created a beautiful and artistic dialogue. The room was filled with beautiful faces of friends, editors, actors, designers, and buyers. A few of the familiar faces included Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough of Proenza Schouler, Robin and Zach Williams, Levin Rambin, Ali Hillfiger, Peter Davis, Antonia Thompson, Paul Rudd, and art collector guru Simone de Pury.
