WAD Marathon : Day 2 - Covergirls Editorial Posted: 02 Apr 2009 11:46 AM PDT In honor of their 10th anniversary WAD concepted a whole editorial recycling past covers of the magazine. I can see they pulled inspiration from Issey Miyake’s Pleats collection and from John Galliano’s over voluminous ball gowns. Original ideas take making a leap out of the box and WAD does this every time. I can see many ways this idea could fail, but they make it work! A lovely production! stay tuned for day 3 of the WAD Marathon.

Tsumori Chisato by Surface to Air Posted: 02 Apr 2009 10:49 AM PDT I have always been a super fan of all the Tsumori Chisato campaigns. The color and ethnicity are always captured and magnified in their vibrant campaigns of which Surface to Air Paris has been the guiding creative light since 2005. Surface to Air is the iconic boutique creative collective in my eyes. They touch base on all things fashion, graphics, photography, design, music, and films while continuously building the team and spectrum. Surface to Air is a hyper product of today’s creative world; interested in everything that makes the eye spark and experimenting with all mediums to execute the highest of visual sensations. They are smaller but powerful, just have a look at their client portfolio which includes Loveless, Louis Vuitton, Cacharel, and Issey Miyake.

Posted: 02 Apr 2009 10:35 AM PDT 1] The Infinity BookshelfCreated by the dutch conceptual artist Job Koelewijn, the shape of the Bookshelf is a lemniscate, a figure 8 and the mathematical symbol of infinity, which perfectly represents the notion of the infinite potential and everlasting power of books. 2] The Circular BookshelfThere are lots of unusual bookshelf designs but no other one where you can “roll” up with a good book. This circular bookshelf by designer Zhdanova Irina also comes with a set of sofas that can be stored as a matching ring. 3] The Bookshelf with a BenchThis design might look cool for the eye, but it isn't sure that you can stay too relaxed in that space. The Shelves with a Bench was designed by Stanislav Katz, a designer from Latvia with lots of playful ideas. 4] The Pulse BookshelfSwedish designer Måns Salomonsen created this awesome pulse bookshelf shaped like a heartbeat in an electrocardiogram. 5] The BookmanThe Bookman is a bookshelf in 6] The Inverted BookshelfThe inverted bookshelf turns your 7] The Chair BookshelfThis bookshelf/chair was made by Elie Nehme and Mani Mani, a couple of young canadian designers from the Fishbol Design Atelier. 8] The Movement BookshelfCreated by Samulnoli, the Movement Bookshelf is about hugging your books. It includes an arrangement of bent nails which can be shaped in the form of legs and arms acting as book holders. 9] The Sexy BookshelfThere is absolutely no doubt that sex sells like nothing else on the planet and is the most searched item on the Internet. Designer Arun Kumar Francis took that obsession a step further and nailed it on the living room in the form of a cool little bookshelf. The bold and innovative design borrows quite obviously from the three letter word and the design has a very uncomplicated and ergonomic feel about it. 10] The Equation BookshelfThe Equation Bookshelf was designed by Marcos Breder. You can put together the books that you need immediately between (parentheses) –the focal point of the bookshelf– and set others between [square brackets] and {braces}. 11] Lovely Rita BookshelfThe Lovely Rita can live as a single shelf or be repeated endlessly by combining additional units, becoming a bookshelf of any length. 12] The Neverending BookshelfThe Neverending bookshelf was made out of corian by Italian designers Luca Nichetto and Andreoli. 13] The Staircase Bookshelf* Tim Sloan a London-based architect from Levitate Architects came up with this ingenious solution to a book storage problem and created a loft-like bedroom nestled under the roof of the top-floor apartment.. more info here 14] The Autumn BookshelfAutum is a shelving system that gives a new take on the standard bookshelf. It is uniquely designed to give the effect of a leafless tree. The bookshelf measures 25Wx100Dx200H in a single unit, but it can be paired with more to make it larger as shown above with 3 units. A wonderful idea by designers David Sanchez & PCM. 15] The Rainbow BookshelfThis is an impressive example of organizing books by color. A great way of changing the whole aspect of a bookshelf using just a little bit of creativity. |
TopShop NY ‘Cuts the Ceremonial Ribbon’ Posted: 02 Apr 2009 10:06 AM PDT Today is the official opening of Topshop NY, a day we have all been impatiently waiting for almost year (not counting all the times in the past years we have asked ourselves why Topshop does not have a store in NYC). But it is a double celebration as the opening also marks the launch of Kate Moss’s signature collection for Topshop. Despite the enormity of this 40,000 square foot, four story shop, I have the feeling that there will still be a massive line out the door to get in today. Im waiting on the report. I sure doubt the economy will be affecting the sales Topshop has in the next month. pics by Stylelist |
